SEO Resource Newsletter -
September 2004 A

Greetings All,

Well, I've been receiving a lot of that spam scam mail recently. Most of it comes from Lagos, Nigeria and they want to buy my products (even though I sell services) and they want to pay for it using a credit card. The spam filter catches some of it but still quite a bit of it comes through.

Also out-of-Africa there are many princesses and other high government officials and dignitaries who want my personal help in moving millions of dollars out of their countries. They don't know me and yet they immediately trust me with this, so I feel special!

Well, onto other news…

People always amaze me! I recently sent out an article titled "Reciprocal Link Scams" which is being published on many sites on the Internet. As is customary, I received an email from a web design firm (which shall remain nameless) saying that they are using this article. When I checked out this article I came to find, they were using one of the link scams from the article to deny a direct link back to the SEO Resource website. I've asked them to correct this. We'll see what happens.

In really other news …

Google is entering into philanthropy by giving free AdWords campaigns to non-profit organizations. In order to qualify, an organization has to have a current 501(c)3 status. You can read more here: Google Grants

FAST has just rolled out its new Local Search technology to compete with Google and Yahoo who already have beta's rolled out and MSN and AskJeeves who are still in development. Find out more about this article here: Clickz

In addition, check out the article on the SEO Resource website called, what else, Local Search.

Overture gets more Google-like in offering broad-matching in their pay-per-click search terms. This exemplifies a major change from their exact match program. This move is expected to gain more revenue from low-volume searches that are often overlooked. Check out the entire story here: Search Engine Watch

Microsoft is delaying its WinFS desktop search engine which was supposed to roll out with its new Longhorn operating system. The combination desktop / web search functionality is what Microsoft hopes to use to compete with Google. For more info: DMNews
